Getting back into Guild Wars. Help needed!
Hey all,
Recently my account got hacked into and I lost everything. 450k in cash, armour, weapons, etc. Everything was stolen, and this really 'grinded my gears' so to speak. I hadn't been playing it for quite some time before it happened and always wanted to get back into it but haven't found the time. I've had the game since I was around 13 or 14 and am 18 now and apparently spent around 1500 hours on the game. I love it, and would love to carry on getting achievements and whatnot. But, I'm so rusty and had everything hacked it almost makes me feel like giving up. Can someone update me on the changes in Guild Wars over the past year? There's probably so much that's changed. Also, what's the fastest way I could restore my lost treasury? I don't particularly fancy farming, because for one, I don't have any money to be able to build a character for that... or have the time. Also, if anyone can provide some sort of pep talk for getting back into this game, that'd be great Thanks. |

Hey,
Firstly, I'm assuming that you have all three expansions Factions, Nightfall, EotN. I would say that the easiest way of making at least SOME money is to complete the campaigns in NM, if you've done that then vanquishing and guardian titles might be next, i.e. doing the game in Hard Mode. For this I would suggest kitting out heroes and I suppose that's a catch-22, no money to start, can't start without money. But assuming that you have at least 5-10k you can buy enough runes from the traders for a decent team setup. Some basic setups worth looking at are Necro setups, as although they are not the most effective methods of completing Hard Mode tasks, they do offer ease of use and make most vanquishes and HM missions fairly easy. Here are some necro hero team builds: http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Build:Team_-_Sabway http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Build:Team_-_Discordway Dont worry about the 'Player' build for Discord, you basically only need a condition and a hex for it to work. A starting point for your character would also be PvX, it offers viable builds: http://pvx.wikia.com As for updates and major changes, on 25/2/10 there was a fairly major update that's worth looking at: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Feedb...dates/20100225 If you need any more specific help or weren't planning on doing HM, reply and I'll update this post. Hope this helps, |

Nightfall must not have been out then. Get Nightfall because when you finish you will have a full set of heroes and it is a very good chapter with an excellent story IMHO.
Besides which, with 3 heroes selected from a much larger group and the new and improved henchmen, you can solo the rest of the game in Normal Mode without too much difficulty. Yes, there is now Hard Mode once you complete at least one chapter, should you feel the need for extra challenge! There is a "complete version" for sale somewhere that includes Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, and I think Eye of the North. It is now a very huge game. The changes in 4 years will be awe inspiring. You will not run out of game anytime soon. Then too, you will be able to join the rest of us with out tongues hanging out for Guild Wars 2, which should be out next year or two. GW is a franchise with a very big future. But do make sure to start with Nightfall if you possibly can. Roll a Ranger or a Warrior and you cannot go wrong. Nightfall has a huge "starting island" that is a real riot. You can return to this island after you finish the final mission in any chapter and do it in hard mode. And beyond the starting island is ... but no spoilers here! |

My overall suggestion is to start in any of the campaigns, but to go to EotN as soon as you get the opportunity to get there. You'll get heroes (you could also do some of Nightfall to get a few more) and the rewards for quests and dungeons are worth more. Last edited by Quaker; Mar 05, 2010 at 04:06 PM // 16:06.. |

1500 hours is not a lot of play time in GW. I would agree with Quaker, just play as if it is a new game.

Don't worry about the 450k of stuff you lost - It was 97% vanity. these days, you can get max armor for under 10k, and equip your character with max weapons for 10k TOPS. 20k shouldn't be hard to muster - I think you get atleast 10k from any given campaign.
